UV Versa-Flex

UV Screen Ink for exterior graphic applications on various types of PVC

Description

  • UV Versa-Flex Series is a range of UV curable screen inks specially formulated for use in exterior graphic/advertising applications, especially on PVC substrates.

Application

  • UV Versa-Flex is suitable for the following applications:
    • PVC self-adhesive films
    • rigid and soft PVC
    • advertising billboards

    • banners

    • vehicle decals

    • window stickers (cling vinyl)

Properties

  • UV Versa-Flex exhibits its versatility in adhesion on a wide variety of PVC substrates, improving on the performance of our previous products. Among the other properties of this product series are:
    • High Flexibility
    • Vivid Colour
    • Fast Cure
    • Semi-Gloss
    • Good Toughness
    • Good Curl Resistance
    • Excellent Outdoor Durability

Curing

  • UV Versa-Flex has good reactivity and should be processed with proper cure conditions to achieve its optimum properties, such as adhesion and durability. UV irradiation of at least 130mJ/cm2 is required to sufficiently cure UV Versa-Flex colours. As always, it is important to note that opaque blacks and whites require more irradiation to cure successfully. This can be achieved by means of reducing conveyor speed or increasing lamp output power.

Outdoor use

  • UV Versa-Flex has been tested for and has a track record of excellent solvent, chemical, physical resistance and colour stability in excess of 12 months in tropical climate when printed and cured properly. For applications requiring maximum durability, the use of UV High Gloss Medium protective overprint varnish is recommended. Pigments used in the UV Versa-Flex series have been specially selected for their light-fastness properties and are therefore suitable for outdoor use. Generally speaking, the exterior durability of blue and black inks will be superior to that of yellows and reds(magentas).

Half-tone/Process Colours

  • Available in 2 part mixing system (UV Versa-Flex Process Medium and colour pigment concentrate):

Matched Colours

  • Specially matched colours (including metallic shades) can be supplied based on international standardized colour references, wet ink samples or prints.

Fluorescent Colours

  • UV Versa-Flex fluorescent colours are also available. However, they are not recommended for long periods of outdoor exposure.

Additives

  • In extreme cases where faster cure or improved adhesion is required, eg: highly pigmented matched colours, cure accelerators are available. (Please see your Radcure Inks & Coatings’ representative for further information).

Storage

  • Containers should be stored in cool conditions – between 10°C (50°F) and 25°C (77°F). Expected shelf-life of ink in this environment is approximately 12 months from date of manufacture. Storage in direct sunlight or heated environments can severely shorten shelf-life of the ink. Avoid contact with peroxides, acids, alkalis, oxidizing agents, rusty or rust prone containers and stirring utensils.

Safety and handling

  • UV inks contain materials that may cause skin irritation and should therefore be handled with care. Safety clothing such as gloves and goggles should be used when handling this product. In case of contact with skin, wash immediately with water and soap. For more complete information, refer to the relevant Material Safety Data Sheets.
